Howard DGA-15P

In the 1930's the Howard company manufactured these aircraft as executive transports. They were built for companies like Standard Oil until the start of World War II at which time the military ordered 650 Howards for all branches of the service.

This Howard was completed for the U.S. Navy in December of 1943 and delivered to the Atlantic City Air Station in January 1944 as a GH-3, (general utility airplane). In 1947 she was converted to a Howard DGA-15P per conversion approval by the C.A.A, a for runner of the current F.A.A.

Acquired in 1996 by her present owner, Capt. Rod MacLennan she's now used mainly for promotion of his business, "Airline Captain for a Day", a full motion flight simulator ride that allows the non-pilot to fly a real boeing 737 or MD-80 simulator at a reasonable price.

The Howard is a five place executive aircraft but for comfort we fly her with one pilot and three passengers. The power plant is a 450 horse power Pratt and Whitney engine. Over the past 60 years she has seen many up grades and improvements.

With a classic aircraft like this, maintenance is an on going program. She gets ten hours of maintenance time for ever hour of light time, if not more. "She is a beautiful airplane and an absolute joy to fly".
